METROPOLITAN LINE RAIL TRAIL
Join us on Friday 29th September, 2023!
Generously supported by Transport for London, Rail Aid’s Rail Trail follows the Metropolitan line in its 160th year, overland, from Wembley Park to Aldgate. Covering a distance of 20km, the rail trail is a great way to get fit, enjoy the lesser-seen sites of London and build up team spirit – whether you’re taking part with friends, family or colleagues.
The event has a fundraising target of £100 per participant and the process of gathering sponsorship couldn’t be easier. But, as well as raising money, this experience is about challenging yourself and having fun, and there are plenty of opportunities at stations along the route to rest your feet, fuel your body, let your hair down and enjoy some photo opportunities together.
Whether you’re doing it alone, in a pair, or as part of a group, the Rail Aid Rail Trail is a chance to see London in a whole different light – and to change lives in the process.
The Rail Trail series of events launched as part of Rail Aid 2022, with 200 participants walking the 15-mile walk route of the new London Underground Elizabeth line. Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee and the opening of the commemorative route, the Elizabeth line Rail Trail on October 7th raised an incredible £42,000 of vital funds for Railway Children. The event was generously sponsored by SMBC Leasing and supported by TfL and MTR, and saw those taking part following the new line through the streets between Woolwich and Paddington.
